Backing up files, photos, and documents is very necessary, you don’t know when you’re Pc or laptop or even you’re smart phone decides to black out and “POOF” everything is lost. But the question to ask here is How much are you willing to spend to Back Up your Files ?!
I saw this 500GB external Hard Drive, what’s good about this one is that it’s Waterproof, and Fireproof, which is SO GREAT, because you never know when you’ll spill your tea or coffee, or maybe you plug fires up and burn your room- La Sama7 Allah- but everything is possible. But I though it is quit expensive almost KD180.
I bought a 500gb external HD, for maybe 30 or 40 kd, but a GREAT really great HD, but I admit I missed used it, by not ejecting the drive properly which made it get slow and not responding for a while, I didn’t realize that and thought why not format it I already lost everything anyway right? WRONG, guess what I deleted my own files without knowing it, the drive was ok, but I rushed things and went ahead with formatting while I should’ve been patient. Long story short I lost 5 years worth music library, I was the DJ of the house but now everything is gone.
That’s why I always encourage people to print a hard copy of every printable document or pictures, and MULTI back up copies. So, How much your Files are worth to you ?!

If the drive you saw for 179 K.D (500 GB) is an SSD one then its a great price and I wanna but it
But if its the mechanical one which is measured by its RPM speed (Revolution Per Minute) then its expensive like you said above, its good they have used Water-proof case but in this kind of Harddrive I’m mostly concerned from shocks and falls because I had one and lost all my data because it fell maybe twice.
The driver is 250GBs NOT 500, plus it is HUGE, the size of it is really big I think not convent, if someone has a BIG deal of files and documents and don’t want to lose them I think it will be ok, but still 250gbs is few.
